One of them asked me to make cases for a cushion (pillow ) he took with him. As you do not know what the pillow is going to be like, you'd better take your own. And I agree. He sometimes uses it as a pillow, sometimes as a cushion.
Los psicólogos lo llaman objeto transicional...
Psychologists call it transitional object...
When you are on your ERASMUS (here in Europe it means doing one Univesrity course abroad) year, the idea is that if the object is not going to come back, it doesn't, and nobody is to worry about that.
So it had to be a quick project, with material and threads already at home.
En realidad, hice dos fundas. Me permitieron practicar mi acolchado libre (FMQ).
In fact, I made two cushion covers. And I was able to practise my free motion quilting.
Los dos tienen el mismo aire.
Both are similar.
And we can see that one of them is simpler. I started with this one. The print suggested embroidering some flowers within the circles. And the broad blue bands asked for a repetitive design that would continue with the idea of the circular shapes. So I drew swirls. and some zig zag here and there.
The turquoise/bluish thread livens up the white background a bit.
As I was reasonably satisfied with the result, I felt encouraged to use a thicker, embroidery thread for the second one. And as he plays rugby, this is the design I could think of.
Here again we have blue hues, swirls and zig zags, but with a thicker thread, giving it more character. The quilting is more dense, and is better noticed.
Seen from the back, they are almost the same, with overlapping flaps son as not to have buttons or a zip.
Both are at their destination, far from here.
Muy bonitos y dinamicos .
