RAMITOS DE LAVANDA Lavender Bunches

Lavender is pleasant because it gives off a nice scent to clothes and chases away undesirable bugs like moths.
I usually give my friends small sachets filled with lavender. HERE you can see several versions of them.
I also make small bunches with lavender flowers when I have long stalks of fresh lavender flowers.
Hoy te muestro cómo se hacen.
Today, I'm showing you how to make them.
You only need to have fresh lavender flower stalks and ribbon.

-  Varitas o tallos de flores de lavanda fresca, recién cortada. Fresh lavender flower stalks, recently cut.
Ribbon: approx. 1,5m (60 inches) of 6mm (1/4 inch) wide satin ribbon.

Here, 7 groups of flower stalks (3 or more stalks per group)

It is important to have an ODD number of groups of stalks.
You normally make 7 or 9 groups. Depending on how thin the stalks are, the groups can be of 3,4 or more stalks.

Get together all the stalks in a bundle and tie them up tightly with one end of the ribbon, like this.

My bundle tied with a piece of ribbon just at the neck, where the flowers stem.

Now,carefully bend back each group of stems so that they point in the opposite direction, while you weave the ribbon over and under each group of lavender stems.

Systematically weave the ribbon over and under as you bend the stems back.
As it is an odd number of stalk groups, where the ribbon went under the flower stems, it will go over in the next row.
Here you have to be careful not to break the stems as you bend them.

While you turn the bundle, tighten the ribbon over and under each group of stems which surround the flowers.
Continue until you have woven the ribbon around all the squeezed flowers.

Algunos grupos tienen más de 3 tallos.
Some groups have more than 3 stalks

Once all the flowers have been encased in the ribbon, bind the bunch of stalks with the ribbon to make sure the whole of it is tightly bound.
Here you can vary the decoration: simply wrap the talks or tie successive knots until there's almost no ribbon left.
Lock the end of the ribbon between the stalks so that it does not unroll.
Ya está!
And you're done!!

  3. Thank you! For years, I have wondered how these were made. I'll pick my lavender tomorrow and try them!
